A Poem by Wendy Bowers
Perfect
You are perfect
Just as you are
With all your created imperfections
your irrational rationings
and your lost loves.
They have brought you to this place
and this face
in the mirror.
Be gentle on yourself,
as you would an old friend who
berates chances missed and
harbors old resentments.
Be kind to yourself,
as you would a lover who brings
both gifts and failings.
Love yourself,
and waste not one more breath
on wanting change.
