Podcast 004: The Journey to Self-Acceptance with Cris Cohen
Welcome to episode 4 of the Rediscovery of Me: Life Stories Podcast.
In this episode, I am joined by Cris Cohen. Here, we discuss the journey to self-acceptance.
Today Cris Cohen is a successful entrepreneur, running his own food, education and training business, but things haven’t always been this easy. An illness from nowhere in his thirties led to a serious bout of clinical depression. He shares his journey of recovery and self-acceptance.
During the episode you will learn about:
- The meaning and importance of creativity and how it is often viewed incorrectly as something that is only available to a selected few
- The role of creative thinking in entrepreneurship
- How childhood experiences shape us as adults – often quite negatively. For Cris, much of this was to do with his dyslexia; he shares how he overcame these difficulties in his education
- The journey to realizing our passions
- How Cris’s struggles with his health led to a deep episode of clinical depression, how he battled within himself to overcome this and how he was able to see a way forward
- How he made the difficult decision to leave a stable career to pursue his passion, and how this has made him feel
- Cris’s views on people and why it’s so important that we connect with one another, stopping and appreciating what we have in life
- How a lack of self-esteem is now a thing of the past for Cris and how being ill has enabled his journey to self-acceptance, so that he can now embrace his fears and take risks.
