As parents and carers we are responsible for the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of our children. It is the hardest, most challenging job in the world and sadly there is no instruction book! All parents struggle and have battles – both within themselves and with their kids!
Often, we find ourselves parenting children and young adults to whom we are not biologically related. The simple act of providing advice and guidance to those younger and less experienced than ourselves is a rewarding and beautiful process, but one which is fraught with challenge.
As we get older, we may see life turn on its head as we find ourselves parenting elderly relations and loved ones.
Parenting styles and strategies vary, but thankfully there is lots that we can learn from research and the practice of others.
